STUDY IN SOUTH KOREA

The country has one of the world’s highest-educated labour forces among Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. The country is well known for its obsession with education, which is well known as “education fever". Students have the option of participating in either of (early decision plans for college or regular admissions). Students will have to take the College Scholastic Ability Test. The Korean College Scholastic Ability Test has five sections: Korean Ability, Mathematical Ability, English Ability, various “elective" subjects in the social and physical sciences. The institutions of higher education included regular four-year colleges and universities, two-year junior vocational colleges, four-year teachers’ colleges, and graduate schools. South Korean university education often continues traditions remaining from the medieval Korean civil service examinations which entitled ambitious young men to join as a clerical further titled as clergy aristocracy.

Eligibility in English.

If international students would like to study in Korea for a regular degree course, it is generally required to submit (The Test of Proficiency in Korean) TOPIK Level 3 or higher accompanied by the admission documents to the corresponding college or university and reach TOPIK Level 4 or higher to graduate. However, if international students would like to apply the courses are given in English; the applicants submit the certificate of English proficiency (ie. TOEFL) and they don’t need to acquire TOPIK scores nor reach TOPIK Level 4 or higher to graduate.

Admission Qualifications for Post-secondary Schools.

Doctoral / Ph.D.                           –            (2 years)

Master’s                                          –           (2 years)

Undergraduate                            –            (4-6 years)

Junior College                               –            ( 2-3 years)

Language Course                        –            (1-2 years)

Exchange Student                      –            any enrolled at a partner university (1 semester /1year)

Short -term self funded Study   –        (1semester -1year).

Vacation Study for Foreigners   –        (2-3 months)

The Schools/ University holds test six times a year (in January, March, April, July, October and November) and the yearly test schedule is notified on the TOPIK website at the beginning of every year. The levels are divided into I and II: Beginner Level for TOPIK I (Levels 1 and 2), Advanced Level for TOPIK II (Levels 3, 4, 5 and 6).
