Child Visa

A Child visa is eligible parent sponsor visa for the child to live in Foreign Country. The parent can apply on behalf of a child younger than 18 years of the age. The child must be under 25, but if aged 18 or over, the child must be a full-time student and dependent on the sponsoring parent. An eligible parent is a Foreign Citizen or the holder of a permanent resident visa.

A child applying for this visa must be the dependent child of a parent who holds the appropriate visa or citizenship.

The child must be:

  • A biological child, stepchild or adopted child of the parent.
  • Able to meet health and character requirements.
  • Single (the child cannot be married, engaged to be married or in a genuine relationship (requiring gay and lesbian couples to prove they have lived together for 12 months in order to qualify.)
  • Financially dependent on the parent holding the temporary Partner visa incapacitated for work due to the total or partial loss of bodily or mental functions.

The child’s relationship with the sponsor:

  • the biological child or adopted child of the sponsoring parent
  • a step child who has not turned 18 of a step-parent who is no longer the partner of the child’s parent but has a legal responsibility to care for the child.

At times certain governments request for DNA tests required for child visa custody, we can guide you on these. Do not be afraid, if you are sure the child is yours, you have nothing to worry about.

All applicants must include the following documents when submitting their applications:

  • Applicant’s current and all old passports
  • A completed applicant’s confirmation page.
  • A visa fee receipt for the current visa application.
  • Child below 14 years of age must submit a photocopy of each parent’s passport biographic information page and valid PR visa (note that if parents do not hold PR visas, children are not eligible for the interview waiver).
  • Accompanying Guardians/Parents can carry the child documents with one hard copy photograph as per US Visa Specification.

Children aged 20 and over are not eligible to be included in their parent’s visitor visa applications or to apply for a visitor or student visa based on their relationship to their parents. But they still may be able to join you if each child applies for a visa in his or her own right.
