Eligibility Requirements

For an Australian Study Visa application to be successful in the year 2024, applicants must meet several eligibility criteria:

  • Enrollment in a Course of Study: Applicants must provide evidence of enrollment in a fulltime course at an accredited Australian educational institution.
  • Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) Requirement: This criterion assesses the applicant's intention to temporarily enter Australia for the purpose of study. Applicants must demonstrate their intention to return home after their studies are complete.
  • Financial Requirements: Evidence of sufficient funds to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and travel costs for the duration of the study period. This includes funds for dependents if they accompany the applicant to Australia.
  • English Language Proficiency: Non-native English speakers must provide proof of English language proficiency through tests such as IELTS, TOEFL iBT, Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic, or Cambridge English Advanced (CAE).
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC): Applicants must have health insurance that covers the entire duration of their stay in Australia.
  • Character and Health Requirements: A health examination and a character assessment may be required to meet the visa conditions.

Document Checklist

  • Confirmation of Enrollment (CoE): Issued by the Australian education provider for the course registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).
  • GTE Statement: A personal statement addressing the GTE requirement, explaining the reasons for choosing Australia and the specific institution and course, as well as future plans post-study.
  • Financial Evidence:: Bank statements, scholarship awards, or financial support letters demonstrating the ability to cover all expenses.
  • English Language Test Results: Valid test scores that meet the required standards.
  • OSHC Policy: Proof of purchased health insurance.
  • Passport Biographical Page: A copy of the passport page containing the applicant's photo and personal details.
  • Character Documents: Police clearance certificates from every country lived in for 12 months or more during the past ten years.
  • Health Examination Results: From authorized panel physicians, if applicable.
  • Academic and Work Experience Documents: Academic transcripts, certificates, and work experience letters relevant to the application.
